PSA: Don't use skype.

Squadcraft is more then a minecraft server. It's a community. There are hundreds of players playing, talking, having fun. There are only a few things that could get you banned forever, and I want less people to be banned forever. Advertising can get you banned (don't do it ). Hacking can get you banned by the server itself. Finally DDOS attacking other players can get you banned. DDOS is distributed denial of service attack. It's when a internet user instructs hundreds of machines to spam a internet address until that internet address is unreachable, so no internet. It's very important to keep your self secure and safe. I have been ddosed before, however I protect my ip so I haven't been ddosed in forever. Everyone can protect their IP address. IP address is basically the address of your computer on the internet. You can protect it in many ways. The best way is to be cautious of people around you and to not let them have your IP address.
Ways people can obtain your IP address:
Visiting a link someone sends you.
Disclosing your skype name, or having your friend show other people your skype name.
I think skype should not be used at all. They were given their chance to stop abuse and remove people's ability to obtain other people's IP addresses. I think they choose to save money instead. Raidcall seems to be safe from ip grabbing, or so I heard. So try to use raidcall instead of skype.
If someone on squad sends you a link that isnt a popular website, it could be an attempt to grab your ip. So don't click links.

Teamspeak Is Used Alot And raidcall is something new and ik alot of people like teamspeak more than anything So it will be better and its easier

I think I may have been ddossed. My laptop is working REALLY slow and my family are getting really annoyed and saying its my fault by playing minecraft. My Internet works slow but so does my desktop and how my laptop runs. It's a toshiba so I don't know if its just a bad make or whatever but what is the symptoms of being ddossed?

The thing is sever owners/staff don't have controll of things that happen outside the server like on Skype which creates problems.

 

But the thing is about this, the fact that I don't believe this new application you speak of doesn't work on mobile. And I for one Skype on my phone (mainly because my computer is too crap to run anything at the same time) and if anything you can just keep your skype to a small group of trusted people

 

I was probably one of the biggest ddos targets on squadcraft during the old map, I had to make a new skype every week and get a new router nearly every month. I couldn't PvP on squadcraft without someone booting me off for a few hours at a time, if that were to be PvPallday97, FlashyOG (I'm friends with him now) CheyTacs, MrIVic, xSinfulDesire, rossburnpro, jetxshadowz, etc. etc. They would all just ddos me, all of this was due to the applicant "Skype" I completely agree with surgetheurge, if anything use teamspeak or raidcall. They are both much better programs. Be safe everyone, you never know if someone has a DDoSer or not. On top of that, with your IP Address people can do more then just DDoS there is another thing called Doxing they can find your full name, phone number, address, the school you go to, the school your parents went to. their address etc. etc. All those can be found through and IP Address that you can get from typing in a skype name into a website. So be careful (I haven't used skype in over 9 months).

 

It's temporary. You can't get DDoSed for ever. Sadly, if you are ddosed for over a long period of time (20 hours +) Your router couldn't be able to work. I doubt you were ddosed unless if you do have skype, and someone hates you, or someone grabbed your ip from a website link.
Overall I think you just have slower paced internet.
