Obedience on a scale of 1-10: 8 - I do what is asked and do my best to follow the rules.
Experience: I have no Staff/Moderator experience, but would be willing to undergo any kind of test/probationary period to gain valuable experience.
Any past offences: I was muted once for spamming when I logged into my MineChat. I feel as if this was some text trigger from MineChat, and am trying to be more careful about it in the future. *Edit* Apparently, this is a common issue with the free version of MineChat.
Reasons you should be moderator:
I feel that being one of the older members of this server that I can bring a certain amount of maturity to the table that others may not possess. I am on the server quite a bit so, I could provide coverage where there may be some gaps currently. Being a parent of three young children, I believe I have what it takes to handle the average demographic of this server. With that being said, I have noticed some gaps where there would be no moderators on. This is an open invitation for some players to break every rule imaginable. I would like the opportunity to help fill some of these gaps to assist the staff of this server to make it even better than it already is. It is an honor and priviledge to be a member of the staff on any server and SquadCraft is no different. They say be the change you wish to see. Well, this is my attempt at trying to make a difference on this server and try to reign in some of the problems that I have seen.
The power of a moderator is not one to be taken lightly. As I said before, It is a privledge and should be treated as such. One needs to be honest and fair. Much of the behavior that is seen can be chalked up to the immaturity of the individuals involved. A good mod needs to be able to see past that and determine if the actions are a legitamite threat to the server and the players on the server. When handing down a punishment for breaking a rule, care must be given to make sure the punishment fits the crime. Being a parent gives me a unique perspective on this aspect as I deal with this IRL on a consistent basis. As I said before, it all comes down to being honest and fair.
Being a mod also involves not abusing your mod powers. I believe that mod powers should only be used when necessary. While I'm not familiar with all the powers given to mods, I don't think it would be fair to use them to gain an advantage over other players. If there is a way to get or do something without Mod powers, that way should always take presidence over using the mod powers to attain that item or complete that task.

I am a humble man. I let my actions speak for me instead of just saying I can do something I prefer to prove it. Having earned a BA degree in Computer Science and a Masters degree in Information Technology Management, I feel as if I have a deeper understanding of what is going on behind the scenes with the server and game than most people do. I also feel like my education gives me a good skill set that could help me become a good mod. I have offered my services as a developer under other forum topics, and it was suggested that a person needed to go through a process in order to be a developer for the server. If that is the case, then I present this application as a sign of my willingness to follow the process. However, if there is no path to being a developer, then I will still offer my services as a moderator. I do my best to help others when needed, and feel like I could be a good mod. I present IconoclasticOne, Goldstiltskin, and HammieRae as references although there are several others on the skyblock server that could vouch for me as well.

Even us old guys like to play games. =) Also, I'm not the oldest on the server. I was playing on a private server with several others my age, but we go through periods where people lose interest until the world gets refreshed which is what brought me to SquadCraft.

 

You can remove the minechat offence, because when you log into a server with minechat it will spam itself and say "Logging in with an Iphone via minechat" or something, and the server deducts spam from how quickly a message is sent when you join, or after your last message. It happens to almost everyone who uses minechat, and it doesn't count as an offence because minechat was self promoting itself, and you did nothing wrong.

 

I understand, but I put it in the interest of being upfront and completely honest.

I agree it would look better if it were clear; however, how does it look if I clear it out now when people can look at the replies and tell that it was edited? I personally think it looks better to be upfront about it. If I don't put it, then technically I would be lying and a person could go back to the logs and see that it happened. If I put it, then I'm being truthful. I'd rather get denied because I was truthful than get denied because I removed something minor and got called for it.

 

Well me as ex-mod thinks you need some experience but im not going over that so.

I understand your concern with the experience; however, how does one get the experience to become a mod? There needs to be a path for those who do not have the experience.

Skyblock. Goldstilskin said that a few mods had gotten demoted/left and there might be some openings now. I understand if there are no openings and I get denied for that reason.

Well for a big server like this you need experience with your rank and your permissions

So i would suggest try to get some experience because mod is hard and you need to be prepared for whats comming to you and you need to know howntondeal with them

 

I have definitely been getting plenty of experience with both gold and diamond ranks and their associated permissions.

 

Mod is no like a easy gold or above rank

 

What "ranks" do you mean then? All I'm aware of is the donor ranks and Staff ranks(Mod, Sr. Mod, Admin, etc.)

 

He means you need to have more experience in the mod department as it is not easy being a mod

 

Well then the question is how can you get experience to be a mod if you have to be a mod to get experience and you have to have experience to be a mod? Sounds like a catch 22.

 

Yeah, but if you have absolutely no experience then you won't know commands, how to act, etc. I am sure you can learn, but not on a large server like squadcraft. Try to get a rank on a small 10 player server with a friend or something just to try it out, so you know what to do.
