Homophobic does not mean scared of homosexuality, it refers to discrimination or hate towards homosexuality. Such as slurs (fag etc) and "that's so gay".

I'm not up for an argument but I will try and explain it. That's so gay is used in a negative context, similar to stupid or dumb. Hence, gay is being portrayed as synonymous with stupid, a negative asset, which makes it offensive. For example if someone were to say that's so black, it would be racist, because they are saying that black means dumb. It's the same way for that's so gay. Makes sense?
