Well, now that the proof is one of the first things that people see when clicking on this thread, I can continue with the actual thread. Warning! This thread is fairly long and contains a large amount of detail. By viewing this message, you have been made aware and therefore there should not be any negative comments regarding the large amount of detail, tl;dr's or anything related. Any comments related to this are either ignored, or with have this message posted in reply. Enjoy your read. Things to view on my island: - The island spawn - Nice view of the island, going up to one of the highest points (as shown in the pic) - The giant storage building - The SSB (Snowy Storage building), most of the levels have a different item stored - The igloo - Cool lil' traditional igloo with fishing pond and working campfire - Furnace room - Nice auto smelting area - Cobblestone generator - An efficient 2 man generator with a collection point - Hangout area - A nice place to chill out and take a break from high-rise and large scale projects Garden area - a nice green area with a cool treehouse, the beauty spot around the efficient buildings suited to a skyblock island Farm/extended farm - Small pens for peaceful animals, with an underground tunnel to the extended farm for mass-breeding Fishing spot, Fishing hut/Ink Farm - Wrong level for squids to spawn but a good design for an ink farm. Along with a nice fishing spot and fishing hut, as well as a stream to carry fish to the storage building Nether Fortress - A makeshift fortress required for a challenge Hotel - A block of flats completed for a challenge, a nice way of providing living spaces whilst minimising the amount of space used for residential purposes Final's Office - A nice view across the whole island from the other side, complete with a secret area for security purposes Auto farm - A giant automatic farm that spans the entire island, suited specifically for a gamemode like skyblock where earth materials are hard to come by. One water source with the capability of splitting into 7 streams responsible for harvesting 6x8 areas of useable farmland on 13 levels as well as a 7x4 area of jungle wood on the same amount of levels. A feat of ingenuity, the harvested cocoa beans, wheat, carrot, potatoes, mushrooms and netherwart then gets carried along an network of streams to single central collection point. Also neighbours a manual farm for other growable items that can't be harvested traditionally with water. (The auto farm can be setup so that the harvesting process can be on video, however it can be very laggy due to water travelling a long distance and lots of crops being harvested so lots of entites being created and moving around) Iron farm - A gathering of villagers that have the power to summon iron golems, that go along the moving walkway down to the 'hot tub' (needs rebuilding, but the current design is fine) Giant Mob Trap - A giant container which summons creatures of darkness and transports them through a network of waterways to a central collection point, the collection point has a auto deathtrap/xp farm dual capability And that's the main highlights of my Skyblock Island. And before anyone exaggerates and says 'You just listed everything on your island', wrong. I listed most of the stuff on my island at the moment, but not all of them. There's probably going to be a project under construction when the recording takes place since I have a lot of plans to keep me busy on the island. As mentioned already, some stuff isn't very efficient or hardly works as it should due to plugins that were installed which prevent it from serving its initial purpose or because it just likes to defy Minecraft logic. Anyone who's an expert in the field of Minecraft efficiency and farms may have an idea of some of the projects that I am planning to build, and anyone who knows me well/has seen my island/has gathered from this thread or previous threads may have an idea of how I plan to build these projects. Well, that should be everything for the video. I've got an active warp setup on my island so anyone can visit it. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks - Final
@TcWxFusions2 if Surge is legit thinking about doing an island showcase doubt it, try to get some of the ogs on for it
Sigh I do need to get my shit together. I need to figure out all this technical stuff. So youtube/google is trying to save money by making videos smaller to save hard drive space and server bandwith. Basically youtube transcodes the videos so they would be ether webm or h263, when it does this, it puts a bitrate limit on it. So like a quality limit. This makes videos look blurry, blocky, and other bad stuff. So apparently 30 fps bitrate is 5000 and 60 fps bitrate is 8000.. So that means that the 1080p 60 fps version, that takes more time to render and takes more space on my computer to record... actually has a lot lower quality. So, I always wanted to make source quality videos at 60fps, but since youtube/google is being a massive chode, I can never do that. The theory I have is, I could record at 30/60 fps, and i could render at 23 fps.. So that means the bitrate, the quantity of data per second, will be the same, with less number of frames. This means that each individual frame will have more data in it. So clearer, sharper, higher quality, prettier images.... I guess I will test my theory and if it works i will return to youtube. But i am pretty butthurt about not being able to make source quality videos, what's the point of spending all that extra time and effort making high quality videos if they are all going to be 720p in the end? It's heartbreaking enough to quit youtube. Anyway I am super serious about this skyblock thing, some of the islands, are super massive. Were talking about multiple years of labor... to make them. They are a lot more worthy of your viewership than whatever my idiot pheasant ass can come up with.
Idk how island levels work with the new skyblock plugin but my island used to be around 800 with the old plugin xP I'm still working on projects that would've increased the island level a fair amount on the old plugin, and hopefully would do with the new one. There's a fair few islands that are a lot bigger than mine though, although Imo my island is fairly well organised and well planned out. Especially with projects like my auto farm.
If you will take this seriously and actually start up an island showcase video, WHILE PROMISING NOT TO TOUCH THE ISLANDS, NOT TO MODIFY THEM IN ANY WAY, AND NOT TO TELEPORT ANYONE THERE, then I would be more than glad to take you to quite a few OG islands, including but not limited to my own, TerraPhoenix's, ShawnaDarlings', IconoclasticOne's, and more. However, if people will be taken there and if the islands will be modified, or if this will be cast aside, I'm not interested in taking time out of my day to this. There are many great islands, and if we myself, vsteel, and you, Surge, put our minds to it, I think something great can come out of it.
The water wall is complete if you wanna reshoot it or just see it in full swing. To be fair it's laggy whether it's flooding or draining, I think it's a great sight
Idk how island levelling works with the new plugin, I was gonna use it to get to over level 1000 for the challenge on the old plugin but I just wanted to build it for the aesthetics and impressiveness of 1 water source being able to spread across the entire island whilst having the option to easily turn the whole thing on or off (at the cost of lag, especially when it's going off)
Haven't had anymore updates about how the video is coming along since the recording phase, but just to let y'know surge (and anyone else who is interested) that I've got a working iron farm now, it's on the main level of my island though (and can be seen from the island spawn) so it'd be pretty obvious that it wasn't there at the beginning of the video Well, time for another project on the island
Since the last post is under a month, I might as well bring this thread back to the surface to raise awareness and check the progress of the video (I tried checking on YouTube a couple of weeks ago but couldn't find it). Since villager breeding is going well as a result of the variety of villagers and amount of crops that the auto farm provides, I've managed o get a fair amount of redstone to automate some of my manual farms. The melon and pumpkin farms have been automated and I'm currently working on the collection point, although progress is slow since I haven't really been online much. If anyone wants I can keep updating this thread with the progress of completed/upcoming projects, or I can just keep providing info until progress of the video surfaces.
