Ebola is a worldwide virus which is spreading rather rapidly, the disease was first spread nationwide around some countries in Africa, such as Sierra Lione, and a few others, and recently, it has spread into some more economically developed countries such as Spain, US and the UK, and is threatening to be one of the most life threatening illnesses in the 21st century. It is spread through bodily fluids, such as urine, saliva and blood, and can cause the patient to die because of either multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, or hypovolemic shock, and deaths normally occur 7-16 days after the virus has been transmitted into the human. Ebola also causes death due to internal hemorrhaging, thus the alternative name Ebola hemorrhagic fever. The UN are taking serious precautions over Ebola, thus preventing more lives, with the UK installing Advanced Ebola Screenings into Airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow. And the UK health secretary warned that there could be up to 10 Ebola cases by December 2014. What is your opinion on the topic of Ebola? Also, 1. To me, saying "we're all gonna die eventually" shows lack of care to a degree. Yesterday there was a "scare" about it in my state, although luckily for me it was a false alarm. If it had not been a scare, I certainly would not dismiss it and say "Well I'm gonna die eventually so might as well die of this..." I understand not worrying yourself sick about it but it can't be dismissed really
Some people are dying simply because of mass hysteria. They fear that Ebola has spread to their state, and begin exibiting symptoms due to anxiety. For example, if someone thinks that a person on the plane has meningitis, most of the passengers will hear and become worried. Then, they will start exibiting symptoms due to mass hysteria, although they have not been infected with any pathogen.
As the disease is not airborne, the only way for it to spread to Ireland would be if an infected person travelled there and infected someone else.

Well, as Ebola is a virus, it can mutate (quite a slim chance) and develop into a new form of Ebola, the scientists will be able to treat the original virus, but by then it may already have mutated and then scientists will have to find a new cure for that mutated virus, but I have read on several websites that it is very unlikely to mutate.
That's true but the same for every other virus in facts its in the definition of Virus "randomly muating" that doesn't mean there can be a cure for all strains of EBOLA (there only are a few strains with very little differences, so it can't be that hard)

Thats true Ebola kills people slowly and painfully here are the symptoms Nausea and vomiting. Diarrhea (may be bloody) Red eyes. Raised rash. Chest pain and cough. Stomach pain. Severe weight loss. Bleeding, usually from the eyes, and bruising (people near death may bleed from other orifices, such as ears, nose and rectum) Ebola is killing thousands and there is no cure. Plus cure efforts are slow due to distrust of many Western countries (USA) in effected countries

Ebola would mutate only if it was under a selective pressure due to a drug therapy. Since no successful therapy has been found yet, the virus, like crazyepicmonster said, is very unlikely to mutate. All Ebola virions out there are wild type. My idea for treatment would be to give a protein called "Interferon" to these people. Our cells produce interferons when we are sick. Interferons work by messing with the cell's protein synthesis process, thus slowing down and stopping the production of viral process. Ironically, Ebola bypasses this by messing with interferons and our cells' ability to interact with these interferons. Maybe if interferon was given to Ebola patients, it would decrease the viral load. Us humans being smart, we could make a new interferon using cell cultures, to treat Ebola in some way. But enough. We just need time to study the process of how Ebola infects a cell, and then get ideas. It's how drugs for HIV were made. This is the probably the same way peole reacted when they first heard of HIV. It's a cycle that'll be repeated.
