Before I start: This thread isn't to debate about whether this is a bug/glitch/fault/issue etc. Whatever it is, this isn't natural, not even close to natural Minecraft mob/animal behaviour. The reasons why I'm making this thread is because previous threads referencing it have passed their post-by-date, and because this is seriously getting out of hand. Previous threads: http://squadcraft.net/threads/mob-glitch.19586/#post-252741 http://squadcraft.net/threads/request-for-a-skyblock-donator-to-change-my-island-biome.19212/ (The original thread was created by Bryte_Star but they removed this) So today, I made a brand new snow golem, pretty much a minute later and it's gone, right before my eyes. Proof 17.50.10 - Golem gets spawned 17.50.10 - Golem sits in farm 17.16.01 - Golem sits in farm still 17.16.11 - *poof* Golem despawns, 1 minute and 1 second later. If you don't trust the proof for whatever reason, you can ask pretty much anyone on Skyblock about it. All the regular players will tell you about it. Proof provided, now time to fix it.
Yes, this whole thing started back in like February/March. I don't know exactly when the plugin changed, it must've been early May or something like that.
for @surgetheurge im guessing its either in the spigot config (u can limit animals) or you have some anti-lag plugin thats destroying these animals. (like REACT for instance)
This glitch, or one similar, has been in existence from before February/March. However, it was only brought into major public view around then, because that's when it started having more of an effect. Apparently, there is some population cap or something per chunk, but the way it hit me is not the way it seems to hit most people. For me, it happened with a shit-load of chickens despawning in one of my machines, going from about 400 to 15 or so. When Surge was consulted, he told me and the others I was working with that it was a population cap per chunk thing, and it not only removed animals, but also prevented other ones from spawning by natural causes or by eggs, being either normal or spawn eggs. I don't know if this is the same thing, but affected me in relatively the same way
I seem to recall encountering the population cap before where you were actually presented with the message saying that you have reached the limit on mobs/animals on your island. It seems like at the moment we can just create as many animals/mobs as we like, without encountering any message preventing us from progressing further. When I was encountering animals despawning the other day within minutes of spawning in, I had only spawned in a single snow golem which was on the same level as the bedrock block on a lot of islands, whilst my mob trap is at the very bottom of the island just before the void, so I couldn't really check the amount of mobs spawning at the time. The unusual part is that the animals despawn for everyone, I'm not sure if they despawn at exactly the same time since we usually just discover they've disappeared when someone reports it. It just seems weird how it seems to affect players differently. If it does turn out to be related to the population caps then the upgrades I plan to make on my mob trap should hopefully improve the situation on my island as more mobs would be dying rather than sitting around in a dark room. But it may be worth me setting up some kind of lighting system to regulate the spawning rates of the mobs and then try testing this with spawning animals on the island. Just theorising at the moment. Hopefully if surge is able to find the cause then we can get some kind of idea of what we're dealing with and how it's either going to be solved or how we can adapt to it better.
No need, villagers trade em. I'll just get loads of emeralds from selling stuff from the auto farm. besides, it was Dr_Pigu who was trying to use the nametag to revive a zombie villager, not me.
