Factions MY SPEED

ok so you know the depth strider 100 in factions? well i killed this newbie that had it and i wore it in the water. i was sooo fast. Then when i took it off and went to /pvp. When i started running, i had the same speed as the depth strider in the water! Its so annoying now. i cant pvp well anymore. plz help me!!
